Friday's mail brought another beauty box delivery and I could barely wait to share it with you! After I opened this box and showed my husband the contents, he couldn't believe that a company would send so much stuff for only $5. Read on on to see more!
Walmart's beauty box occurs quarterly and automatically renews for each season. This season's box was themed for Fall, and I'm very excited to show you the contents. There has been much speculation about the variety in the boxes and how they determine who gets what. Many have suggested it is by age. Either way, you get some to try some new products for a very low cost.
The first item I pulled out was a sample card for Neutrogena's new Nourishing Long Wear makeup. There are 8 shades to match to so hopefully everyone will find one that works for them. I am excited to try shade 10, Classic Ivory. I love natural looking foundation but it is hard to find one that lasts all day. I touch my face a lot during the day, even though I know I shouldn't, and my foundation tends to disappear from certain areas and remain fully intact in others. Not a good look. I'm excited to see how this fares. There is also a $2 coupon for a full size Nourishing Long Wear foundation. If I find that I like it, I may use this coupon to give it a longer test run.
The next item is a full size Secret Clinical Strength Deodorant in Completely Clean. I've seen this in the stores and have liked the fact that this one comes in a box. It sets it apart from other deodorants. But because I am not excessively sweaty myself, I haven't bought this or tried it. I'm looking forward to seeing how it performs while I'm at the gym or other times when I may get over-warm.
Dove was a significant contributor to this box it would seem. They included a shampoo and conditioner sample from their Oxygen Moisture line and a smaller sample of "Pure Care Dry Oil for Hair." I understand that these three items likely counted as a set, but that's still a great set for sampling. I really like when you can try a whole line of something instead of just one part. Some people may be disappointed in these because they are for fine and flat hair, but for me that's perfect. It's exactly what I would have chosen for myself. I recently cut off about 6 inches of length and at that time I was using deep conditioners religiously. I used some sort of leave-in oil after every wash and was only washing every other day at most. My hair still wasn't behaving how I wanted so I chopped it off. I still use a heat protectant every day to minimize damage. My hair is naturally fine and flat so I'm hoping with the shorter length that this new shampoo and conditioner will spring it up a bit. I'll let you know!
Of these three items shown above, I'm very excited to see the L'Oreal Youth Code Pore Vanisher. I love trying out different primers and having a sample makes it so much easier. I've heard mixed reviews on this, which is likely why L'Oreal sent out a sample. On MakeUpAlley.com (Not affiliated, just like to use it as a resource.) there was not a general consensus on whether this worked better for any one skin type. I looked through reviews for dry skin, normal skin and oily skin and among each there were people who loved it and those who didn't. I guess if you are lucky enough to get a sample, I would try it. The evidence does not suggest that you run out right now and get it but I'll let you know what I think of it and if it worked for me.
The Covergirl Glosstini nail polish is a nice touch. It is one of three full size items included in this box. The color is called "After Dark" and is a pretty turquoise color. I would use it more in the summertime on my toes. I am not very likely to use it on my hands. I am a huge nail polish aficionado though so seeing this in my box was awesome.
The other item in the back is a fragrance sample from Nicki Minaj called Pink Friday. I am terrible at describing scents but to me, it smells nice. I typically would prefer a make up sample to a fragrance but as I don't get them too often, I don't mind.
Now this was something I was excited about. I love getting lip products in boxes! The last lip product I got was in the Target box here and it was worth the entire cost of the box to me. L'Oreal sent a full size Glossy Balm in Lovely Mocha and while I love the concept and it feels great on the lips, it just isn't my color. The packaging is more brown toned mauve than shown in the picture and I was afraid it was going to be too brown for me. As you can see below, the color blended right in.
The top photo I'm wearing Lovely Mocha and the bottom is my lips with lip balm, that's it. The balm is pigmented, it just happens to be almost my exact lip lip color. So kind of a let down. If I have a colored product in my hands I want it to show up more. I think this is a great product and I'm still happy I got it, I just wish it was a color I could test out better.
Beauty Boxes like this are an awesome and inexpensive way to treat yourself or someone else and to test out new products. I was amazed at how many different items were included in this box for only $5. If you haven't signed up yet, you can sign up here.
Thoughts on any of the products mentioned? Do you have any Glossy Balms or other lipstick balms you like?
