In my pocket.

Holly-Pockets...It's a nickname at work. Mostly due to the fact that I carry way more in my pockets than one should ever carry. On any given day, not only do I have my cell phone, bobby-pins, at least 2 of my favorite pens (usually 3), change for the vending machine, pieces of candy or mints, a notebook, extra pens for my boss and post-it notes all crammed into my pockets. And then of course there are the lip products. There are at least 2 lip products on my person at all times as it is, but at work there are at least 3, sometimes 4.

So to ease my conscious and in hopes I'm not the only one, here are the items I have been clinging to all week.

#1- My lip balm. I can never be without some form of moisturizing chapstick or lip balm. I'm currently using the DIY lip balm I make myself. See recipe here. I have to use lip because quite simply do not drink enough water and the skin on our lips is so incredibly fragile that it would evaporate right off. This is one item I am never far from, if not in constant contact with. And if I lose track of one of my lip balms, I will hunt all over the house, car or other people's houses to track it down. (Usually I just text the other people, I don't actually ransack their home.)

#2- Lip gloss, Second only to balm in moisture, gloss has the added bonus of color!!! Sheer, delicious, sweet smelling buildable color. My current favorite is NYX Butter Gloss in Creme Brulee. I love how peachy it makes my lips look without fading or bleeding out. I initially received this in one of my beauty boxes and liked it so much I purchased a backup and two more in Apple Streudel and Eclair.

#3- Lipstick- I've been increased impressed by lipsticks lately. Usually I find them to be short lasting, too dry and to accentuate any lip wrinkles from dry skin. But I've recently began to give them another go. I tried a few matte lipsticks from Rimmel and they were okay, but one I found for a measly $2.99 from Essence has been with me for a few weeks now and I am loving it. You may have seen it on my Instagram recently. I can wear it more sheer or build the color easily. It doesn't stick to dry patches and leaves a soft pink glow, even after a few hours. The color is 11 Nude Love and for the price, you really can't pass it up.

A few other items I've been using recently are:

-Nanacoco gloss in Secret Crush, (square tube, black cap.) I received it in my Beauty Box 5 box earlier this summer. It's a little frosty which I'm not used to, and very s̶t̶i̶c̶k̶y̶ long lasting. It is one of the few lip glosses my husband noticed and commented on so I'm going to keep it around!

-Mary Kay at Play Bold Shine Lip Color. (Red cap.) I'm not sure what color this one is exactly. My friend gave it to me because she knew I would like the color better than she did, and I do! It's a bit sticky but the color is fun.

-L'Oreal Colour Riche Extraordinaire Lipstick in 601 Nude Ballet. (Gold packaging.) This is my favorite after the three I'm currently using. It's creamy and smooth, with great pigmentation and is very moisturizing. Its also very flattering on my skin tone and great for creating a nude lip.

-Cailyn Art Touch Tinted Lip Gloss in 09 Basic Instinct. I believe this was from my Ipsy bag but I initially received the red one and traded it for the nude color. This is supposed to be a tinted gloss but it's a bit dry so I'm careful to use it over lots of lip balm.

Have you tried any of these? What are your favorite lip products? Anything you consistently re-buy?

    1. Thanks Whitney!! Once I got the the formula down it was really easy to make. I keep a jar of it sealed up and premixed so I can just melt it and pour it into a new tube when I run out. I have definitely made an extra trip to the store or wherever if I found I had no lip balm. I simply cannot go for any length of time without it! I lost one camping once, never again!!!! Always bring a backup! I think that's why i keep more than one on me at all times. Notice I did not mention how many are in my purse........I've even been known to use hand cream if I was in a real bind.
