November Ipsy Glam Bag Review

It's that time again!! The November Ipsy Bag is here, yay!! *cue applause* My bag arrived extra early this month but due to some time constraints and some health issues, I wasn't able to review it until now. Read on for my thoughts!

Ipsy's theme this month was "Girl meets Glitter" and it's like they had me in mind. I'm a huge glitter/shimmer fan although I limit it to accessories rather than on my face. I'm usually not that invested in the bags themselves, sometimes they're really cute, sometimes not, but I LOVED this months bag. I used to get lots of glitter cosmetic bags from Forever21 and was excited to see that Forever21 was the company behind this month's bag too. Score!!

I received 5 products in this months bag and although I've been really excited about them, I don't know that the products fit the "Girl Meets Glitter" theme. With the exception of the eyeliner and bag itself, the rest of the products weren't glittery.  That's fine by me as I really only wear glitter on my nails or in accessories.

One of the items I received was the SeaRx Birchsap Moisturizing lotion. I'm all about moisturizers since I have super dry skin and the weather this time of year doesn't help. Here's the description from Ipsy's site "This silky-smooth, non-greasy formulation for the face and body contains ingredients known for their extra strength moisturizing characteristics. It delivers minerals, oligoelements, and sugars combined with birch sap to smooth and strengthen skin while providing long lasting moisturizing effects. It helps to maintain a healthy glow while providing a degree of protection from sunlight." The description is really encouraging and I hope it lives up to the hype.

I also received a full size version of the J.Cat Wonderpaint in Mad Splatter. I was excited to try these, especially when I saw that Ipsy was going to be sending some out. This really is a beautiful color but I'm too timid to try it. Even though this was the better option of the two colors available, I couldn't bring myself to wear it. I've tried so many other dark or bright colors and I just don't like them. So I decided to swap this for something else and I didn't open it.

The eyeliner I received I wasn't too thrilled with, but only because I wanted the Purple color. "Ultra Olive" isn't really a color I wear, although I know greens can be very flattering. I'm saving this one to swap for something else because I know I just won't wear it. I'm sorry I can't really give you a review of this either but I'll have a better plan next month.

After showing you two products I won't be using, this is one I am sure to use up. I'm a little 80's when it comes to hairspray...I like to tease my hair. I know it's awful for it but I'm kind of addicted to volume and that's the only way I can get it. I promise I'm as gentle as I can be. Honestly though, I'm super excited about this. I love anything Moroccan oil, Argan oil, Moringa oil, etc. Dry hair + teasing + hairspray doesn't really add up to shiny hair all the time so combining an oil with a hairspray that claims to add volume is a phenomenal idea. They also claim this will not add heavy build up...We'll see how that claim holds up with my usage level but I can't wait to try.

THIS. This is my favorite product in this bag, maybe even out of a few Ipsy bags. I love getting high-end cosmetic samples, especially when its in the right shade or close to it and sampling concealers has been my obsession lately. I go through phases where I decide what I have isn't working anymore and I have to try a bunch of products before I settle on a new one. This will be fun to test out and compare to the others I just bought.

it COSMETICS claims that this concealer is your "8 hours of sleep in a tube." Awesome, I never get 8 hours of sleep and my under-eye circles are the one place I have to conceal even if I have no time to do anywhere else. There's a lot of info and images out for this already but I did manage a few swatches for you!

Above, I placed two small dots on my hand and blended one out a little. A little goes a really long way so the section that's blended out is more of a T-shape than a wide swatch. You can see it's not quite the right shade for my hand but if you look below I was able to blend out the rest of it and it melted right in. I have a prominent vein towards the thumb side that makes it look like an edge to the concealer but it's really just my hand. It has a great finish to it, not cakey at all and seems moisturizing. I'm really excited to use this. Even if this doesn't go into my daily routine, it will be great for travel.

This bag was pretty exciting for me, even if I am swapping out two of the five products. I really liked the bag and the other three items so it was definitely a win for me. I always think Ipsy is worth it and this month was no exception. Maybe they knew it was my birthday......Meh, probably not. As always, if you don't have Ipsy and would like to, you can subscribe here for only $10 a month.

Did you get any of these products in your bag? What's your favorite under-eye concealer?

  1. I might have to see if there is anything to trade you for in my Glossybox…I decided to try that one as well this month, but might be canceling if it doesn't pan out well...

    1. I'm loving it too!! It covers REALLY well and doesn't crack or cake. I still want to try some of the wonder paints, but I'll probably do a more neutral color.
