For as long as I can remember, I have loved variety stores. Dollar stores, local pharmacies, gift shops, etc. They're just amazing for finding things you wouldn't expect for cheap. Plus, little know fact, an independent pharmacy can order almost anything skin related,(not high end obviously) and have it to you in about a day. So if there's a particular product you like and can't find it, give 'em a call! You never know. Anyway, I went to Seattle a few weeks ago and got to visit one of my favorite little shops, DAISO. Daiso is a Japanese "dollar" store where most items retail for only $1.50 or $2. I actually went to two different ones since there are none in the state where I live. I found all kinds of unique goodies and couldn't resist taking a bunch home!!
I bought some drinks and snacks too but I ate most of them before I had the chance to take photos, oops. Daiso is one of my favorite places to get travel containers. They have some of the smallest containers I have ever found and they are perfect for keeping in your purse or for short weekend trips.
Below is actually my third purchase of these little pump bottle containers. I use them for face moisturizers that come in those awful un-hygienic tubs and for when I make liquid soaps out of bar soap. Plus the pump is just great to have. The containers are a decent size, maybe 4 oz each I believe? It's not listed in English what the size is and I can't read Japanese. ;)
Another of my favorite things to get from Daiso are pill boxes. They have soo many different styles and sizes! Some have up to 12 or more compartments. As I know many of you can relate, I have a lot of stomach problems and am prone to headaches and motion sickness so I carry a lot of different things with me at all times. This container that I bought has two sides for all my necessities. One side has four sections and the other had two large sections. I really liked the fact that it has two larger sections because there are some medicines that I need more of than others.
Isn't this spray bottle the cutest??? It's only 12 ml which is less than half an ounce and perfect for purse or travel. As soon as I got home I filled it with some of my Mario Badescu Rose water facial spray so I could always have it with me. I haven't decided what to do with the second one I bought, other than love it dearly of course.
This spray bottle is even smaller than the last one and is the fourth one I've bought since I can't help sharing them with others. I love to use these for travel perfumes. The silver lid makes them look really classy and I think these are only 5ml. The spray top on these unscrews to make it easy to fill.
This little guy was something I had never seen at Daiso before and I wanted to buy like 12 of them. I couldn't come up with 12 different uses off the top of my head so I just got one to start with. It's a 5ml roller ball container. The cap unscrews when you fill it and the lid itself has a really snug *click* when you put it on. I tried using this for a really thin foundation I have but it didn't dispense well off the roller so I may have to experiment to find the best use for it. I still think it's adorable though!!
These last two items were purchased solely out of curiosity. I haven't had a chance to try either of them yet but soon I will. I recently noticed an increase in blackheads on my nose so I thought the charcoal nose strips would be nice to try. The little blue package is really intriguing to me and I just couldn't resist. I don't actually know if I'll ever use it but I wanted to get it anyway.
The directions indicate to wash your face then apply the nose strips for 15 minutes and remove. I'm always a touch nervous about anything I have to peel off my face but my nose is less sensitive so I think it's worth at least one try.
This my friends is a metal device designed to help you "express" a clogged pore or gland. That's the tactful way to put it. With less tact, it's a pimple popper. Really weird I know and I hope that this doesn't gross you guys out. I really try to avoid mushing my face around when I have acne but there are those times when you lose the fight and maybe this would be nicer to the rest of your face. I don't know.
I really loved all of the quirky little things I bought at Daiso and I really wish there was one closer. 4 hours is such a long drive so I don't make it there very often. I know they have locations in Washington and California and hopefully they expand to Oregon someday as well.
Do you have any favorite little shops like Daiso?
